
History of BSHS
The Bangsamoro Science High School (BSHS) was established through Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 40 on August 14, 2023, to provide specialized, free science and technology secondary education in the BARMM. Supervised by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), it welcomed its pioneer batch of 26 students for the 2025–2026 school year.

2022 Proposal
Parliament Member and MOST head Engr. Aida Silongan filed BTA Bill No. 203 (the Bangsamoro Science High School Act) to build a regional science institution.
2023 Public Hearings
The Committee on Science and Technology, chaired by MP Suharto Esmael, held consultations with national experts from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) system.
Enactment
The Bangsamoro Parliament officially enacted the law in August 2023, which took effect on September 20, 2023.
Construction and Opening
Site Selection
While initial planning targeted Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, the school formally launched its operations and temporary facilities in Cotabato City (Brgy. Datu Balabaran, Tamontaka). A groundbreaking ceremony for its permanent campus construction in Parang took place in early 2025.
Inaugural Classes
BSHS opened its doors to its pioneer freshman class of 26 scholarship recipients for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Core Curriculum
The school merges advanced STEM instruction with foundational values education, aiming to replicate or exceed national PSHS benchmarks.
